How Is Microneedling Performed?
Microneedling is performed in a treatment room and takes around 30 – 60 minutes to complete. This skin treatment utilizes a numbing cream or local anesthetic if requested, but patients generally feel little to no pain and discomfort. The skin being treated will be cleaned before the microneedling handpiece is evenly passed over. After the microneedling is complete, a topical treatment, such as PRP (platelet-rich plasma) or a vitamin-infused serum, may be applied for deeper penetration of the nutrients into the skin. A moisturizer selected for your skin type will be massaged in with sun protectant because your skin will be sensitive after the treatment.
