What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing at BA Med Spa & Weight Loss Center is a noninvasive cosmetic procedure that utilizes pulsating beams of energy to exfoliate dead and damaged skin cells layer by layer. The procedure is performed to correct facial lines and wrinkles and for minimizing skin irregularities, including pigmentation, acne scars, and other flaws. Also known as a laser peel, fractional skin resurfacing is effective for people who want clearer, softer, younger-looking skin. Based on the condition of your complexion, the laser will be customized accordingly. There is some downtime associated with most laser skin resurfacing facials. Any concerns or questions can be discussed with our Broken Arrow, OK team during the initial consultation.

Our Laser Skin Resurfacing Technique

When you have a deeper or more intense laser resurfacing session, you may be asked to use a topical retinoid for 2 – 3 weeks before your laser treatment. The retinoid helps prepare the skin for more effective results. Medication may be prescribed prior to the procedure to help lessen any discomfort for greater relaxation during your session. If your complexion only needs mild improvement, local anesthesia will be applied to numb treated areas of the face. For full complexion or deeper laser treatments, some form of sedation may be used. Throughout the procedure, you will relax in our treatment chair while the laser handpiece passes over the skin, precisely targeting the designated areas for rejuvenation. You will feel warmth from the laser, followed by cold air from the built-in cooling system. The laser is designed to destroy damaged skin cells while also prompting natural collagen production.

About Us
How much does laser skin resurfacing cost?

Your laser resurfacing costs are based on the treatment you choose. During your initial consultation, we will ask about your concerns and goals before discussing the different types of laser resurfacing available. After this, we will help you decide on your resurfacing method and talk to you about costs. BA Med Spa & Weight Loss Center often runs skin treatment specials and packages, so ask for more information in your appointment.

What's the best type of resurfacing for me?

We will help you decide which resurfacing option will best meet your concerns and goals in your consultation. What treatment is best for you depends on your skin condition, any skin problems, and the skin depth you want your treatment to reach. How long you are willing to give your recovery might also be a deciding factor when you create a treatment plan. If you are in doubt, it's best to select a lighter treatment, assess your outcomes, and decide if you want something stronger for your next treatment.

How can I help my skin recover after a resurfacing treatment?

A team member will give you tips on how to help your skin heal after a resurfacing treatment. The most important rule is don't peel or pick your skin. This could lead to lasting damage, including scars. You need to forgo all hair removal methods in the treatment area, including waxing, shaving, or depilatory creams. We can recommend an ointment to help soothe and heal treated areas.
